and is a recent graduate of the dance department at
Northwestern University. Melissa has studied various

Audition Information
The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago will hold
auditions for the annual Nutcracker on Sunday,
September 7. The audition will take place at 218
South Wabash, 7th floor.
Dancers between 4 feet and
4 feet 5 inches will be held from 10:00 am-11:30 am.
Dancers over 4 feet 5 inches, but no taller than
5 feet, the audition will be held from 12:00 pm-1:30
pm for 5th year through advanced students and
2:00-4:00 for 1st through 4th year ballet students.
These auditions are a wonderful experience for
dancers even if they don't make the cut. The
exposure to professional dancers and other dancers
like themselves is an experience of a lifetime. For
more information see the Dance Gallery bulletin
board or call Carla Graham-White at 312-739-0120
ext. 17. The Dance Gallery faculty strongly
encourages dancers to participate in experiences
such as this.
DANCE in Love
Dance in Love will begin on Saturday,
October 4th . Dance in Love is a dance company which
uses Christian music and is founded in the belief
that our talents and our gifts are blessings from
God and are given to us to share with others. Each
session begins and ends with prayer and includes a
warm up and choreography which we perform for local
church groups or organizations. We will also travel
to Indianapolis January 30-February 1 for the Dance
Revolution where we will perform and take classes
with other Christian dancers. We are also planning
some other traveling which will be discussed when we
meet!! We welcome new and "experienced" members who
are enrolled in at least 2 hours of dance a week and
are age 7 or older.
Placing Our Dancers
The Dance Gallery faculty understands
that it's fun to be in class with friends. However,
we maintain that the most important place to be is
where the student is learning at an appropriate rate
and is not in danger of injury. We care deeply for
our students and place them with care in their
levels. Please continue to have faith in our
experience which comes from years of teaching and
parenting. We will always try to handle each
situation with compassion and honesty. Also, please
feel free to contact any of us with your concerns.
