Congratulations!
Congratulations to Kim Dooley, Dance Revolution 2004 scholarship winner. The scholarship, which is based on skill and attitude, entitles Kim to free tuition to Dance Revolution 2005, and a weekend intensive at either Ad Deum in Texas, or Glory Ministries in South Carolina. Great job Kim!

Studio Closings
The Dance Gallery will be closed for spring break from March 22nd-27th. Classes will be held the Monday after Easter. If you are ever uncertain whether or not classes are cancelled, please call the studio. In the event of a closing due to weather or any other reason, there will ALWAYS be a message indicating this on the voicemail.

Annual Celebration
The annual Celebration of Dance will be Friday, June 19, 2004, at Munster High School. Beginning in March, it will be very important to attend classes regularly so that you feel confident and have a great time on stage. Also, please reserve Thursday, June 20th for technical and dress rehearsal. All but the youngest classes are required to attend the whole day.

The of this year's Celebration 2004 will be Wizard of Oz. The part for the Wizard of Oz will be:

DOROTHY: Sara Dobrinich
WICKED WITCH: Kristin Tanzillo
GLENDA: Chrissy Burke
LION: Katie Frank
SCARECROW: Kim Dooley
TIN MAN: Cara Scrementi
OZ: Lauren Rowley
CYCLONE: Sophie Griggs

LULLYBY LEAGUE AND LOLLIPOP GUILD: Elizabeth Hutter, Natalie Miyashiro and Kaitlyn Ritchie

FLYING MONKEYS: Kelly Hoffmann, Hannah Kimberly, Emily Kitchell, Megan Krueger, Ellen Ratajack and Emily Torres

These parts were given as EXTRA parts based on merit. They will require EXTRA rehearsal times outside of regularly scheduled classes. If you are unable to make this commitment, please let Ms. Amy know as soon as possible so that you can be replaced. If you miss more than two rehearsals, you will be subject to replacement.

Other Parts Based on Class Schedule

Mondays 4:00: Magic Snow; 5:00: Poppies; 6:00: Cyclones

Tuesdays 5:00 & Miss Melissa’s Saturday 12:00 class: Rainbows.  (Those three girls will need to start coming from 5:30 to 6:00 on Tues. beginning March 30th.)

Thursdays 5:00: Glendas; 6:45: Tin Man’s Bumble Bees

Fridays 3:15: Lion Cubs; 4:00: Munchkinds (Please know there will be a lot to learn. Attendance is very important.)

Saturdays 10:30: Lion Cubs; 11:15: Poppies

Many of these parts will also require extra rehearsals as we near the Celebration date. Please be flexible and understanding. This is all part of producing a quality program, and teaching real theater skills to our students.

Jazz Class Participation
ALL JAZZ CLASSES will be in a separate jazz piece with extra rehearsals beginning in May on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:00. The exact date of extra rehearsals will be posted nearer that time. Plan on beginning either May 25th or June1st. Students not attending these rehearsals will not be in the final jazz section done with all classes. Also, they get to see all of the jazz dances ahead of time this way.

Video Taping at the Celebration
No video taping will be allowed during the CELEBRATION . We are currently talking with Professional video services who did our taping last year. We are asking that some changes be made. If they are unable to accommodate us, we will be searching for a new taping service. Anyone with any suggestions, please contact Ms. Amy soon.

Summer School
Please let Ms. Amy know if you will be attending Summer School. We try to accommodate students schedules for the summer as much as possible. Students currently enrolled in levels Dance exploration and above are encouraged to attend Summer classes. Children turning 7 before August 31st may enroll in Summer Jazz Class. Students enrolled in Ballet 1 and higher will NOT stay with their class if they are not present in at least half of the summer session. No exceptions.

... some classes require pre-registration. These lists will be posted on the studio doors. If you do not pre-register, you may NOT attend those classes that become full. Look for these lists beginning in May.

A weekend seminar with guest instructors will be held June 25th-27th. So far the line up includes Claire Bataille, Greg Begley and Laura Wade. Also, our own Nick Pupillo who is a member of Gus Giordano dance company may participate. In addition, Julie Dewerd, a physical therapist who has worked with many dancers will give a lecture on common dance injuries, prevention and treatment. Nutrition and pointe evaluation. Levels three and four are invited to sign up at the studio. Pre-pointe dancers may attend with permission. Price to follow.

On a Final Pointe

  1. Tuition is due no later than Saturday, March 6th.

  2. HAVE A GREAT SESSION!!!!
